Our Green Policy

To demonstrate our commitment to the  Green Tourism Scheme. Sustainable tourism  protects environments, respects local cultures, supports communities, conserves natural resources and minimises pollution.

Some of the main steps we have taken to reduce our impact are:

Leaf   Recycling as much as possible to reduce waste
Leaf Increasing the use of low energy consuming appliances and bulbs
Leaf Reviewing our energy consumption on a monthly basis
Leaf Designing the garden to further encourage wildlife
Leaf Encouraging our guests to use public transport if possible
Leaf Buying locally and supporting local community projects
Leaf Introducing the use of Eco friendly products for cleaning, admin and waste collection
Leaf Complying with relevant environmental legislation and regulations

We have an inventory of the trees around the lodges and in addition we are keen to support & enhance our grounds for flora and fauna further by:

Leaf Encouraging our guests to monitor and record wildlife in the grounds
Leaf Providing suitable food for wild birds and red squirrels & monitoring sightings of these
Leaf Optimising opportunities for wildlife in the garden by “Giving them a Home”

We are conscious of our Carbon Footprint and during their stay we would encourage our guests to make use of:

Leaf The information we provide on walking and cycling routes
Leaf Our recycling area
Leaf The public transport information and timetables
Leaf Our “Love to Eat Out and In” information to help buy and eat locally
Leaf Our library of “preloved” books and walking maps

We are committed to reviewing our policy on an ongoing basis and looking for new ways to improve our sustainability and reduce our impact on the environment.
